DBX Tuner – Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies to the “DBX Tuner” app (Android and iOS). For visiting our website and placing orders in the shop, the privacy policy of dbxsound.com also applies.

In short

DBX Tuner works completely offline. The app has no internet access, no user account, no advertising, no analytics or tracking services, and does not pass any data on to third parties. As the provider, we do not receive any personal data via the app.

Microphone

The microphone is used exclusively to detect pitch. The audio signal is analyzed only in your device's RAM and is neither recorded, stored, nor transmitted. The microphone is only active while the “Tune” or “Settings” screen is open and the app is running in the foreground.

Access is only granted if you allow it via your device's system prompt (consent pursuant to Section 25 (1) TDDDG). You can revoke this permission at any time in the system settings. The metronome and reference tone continue to work without a microphone.

Permissions

Microphone – for pitch detection (see above).
Keep screen on and Vibration – optional in the settings; no data is processed.

The app does not request permission for the internet, location, contacts, camera, or storage.

Data stored on the device

Only the app settings are stored on your device (e.g. reference pitch, instrument, custom tunings, metronome tempo). This data is not transmitted to us and is not accessible to us. It may be part of your own device backup (e.g. iCloud or Google backup) if you have enabled one. You can delete it under Settings › Reset or by uninstalling the app.

Downloading the app

Via dbxsound.com: If you order the app in our shop for €0, we process the information from the order (in particular email address, name, and order and download data) to provide you with the download (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR) and to fulfil statutory retention obligations (Art. 6 (1) (c) GDPR). The shop is operated by Shopify. Details can be found in the privacy policy of dbxsound.com.

Via Google Play or the App Store: When downloading, Google or Apple process data under their own responsibility according to their own privacy policies. We have no influence over this.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, as well as the right to withdraw consent at any time with future effect. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia. We do not receive any personal data via the app itself; for orders in the shop, you can contact us at any time.
