WindFX – Privacy Policy

As of: October 2026 ·

This privacy policy applies to the “WindFX” app (iPad and Mac). For visits to our website and orders in the shop, the dbxsound.com privacy policy also applies.

In short

WindFX processes your microphone and instrument signal exclusively on your device. The app has no user account, no advertising, no tracking, and no analytics services, and does not send any data to DBX Sound or third parties on its own.

Microphone and audio

The app requires access to the microphone or your audio interface to play your instrument or voice live with effects. The signal is processed in real time on the device and is neither recorded, stored, nor transmitted. Access is only granted if you allow it via the system prompt (consent under Section 25 (1) TDDDG); you can revoke it at any time in the system settings.

Bluetooth

Bluetooth is only used when you pair a Bluetooth MIDI controller (e.g. a foot switch or keyboard). No personal data is collected.

Files and data stored on the device

Your presets, setlists, scenes, MIDI assignments, settings, and imported loops are stored locally on your device only. The app only accesses files when you select them yourself (e.g. importing loops, exporting a backup or sound file); exported files are saved in the location you choose.

Test log and feedback

The optional test log records technical values (e.g. device type, load, dropouts, levels, restarts, MIDI events). It contains no audio recordings and remains on your device. Only if you choose “Send feedback” and send the log to us yourself via the share menu or by email do we receive it, together with the details of your message (e.g. email address). We use this information exclusively to find bugs and improve the app (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR – our legitimate interest in a bug-free app) and delete it as soon as it is no longer needed for that purpose.

Beta testing via TestFlight and the App Store

During beta testing, WindFX is distributed via Apple TestFlight. Apple may collect crash reports, device data, and feedback you send and share them with us. Apple’s privacy policy applies to this and to later downloads from the App Store.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection, as well as the right to withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, e.g. the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia. Contact us at info@dbxsound.com.

Changes

We update this privacy policy if the app or legal requirements change. The version published here applies.
